Week 10 11.30.2023 - Intro to After Effects

Adobe After Effects is a 2.5D animation software used for animation, visual effects, and motion picture compositing. After Effects is used in film, TV, and web video creation.

This software is used in the post-production phase and has hundreds of effects that can be used to manipulate imagery.

Adobe After Effects takes a different approach to creating movement.

Motion graphics animation works by manipulating vector and rasterized art to create and tell a story.

Pre-compositing in Adobe Photoshop

1. Transforming still images (graphic elements and photography) Into moving images. Basically, Photoshop is a platform for compositing the layers. All the layers need to be arranged and renamed accordingly so that it will be organized and easy to be animated in After Effects.

2. Animating layers sequence from various elements and platforms.

Basically, we can import elements such as images, video, vectors, and more into After Effects. All the layer elements need to be organized and synchronized to the external software platforms such as Photoshop & Illustrator. After Effects files do not embed its media, it link to it.

         REFLECTION

Experienc

As Mr. Fauzi said it is important to keep your project organized by using folders and labels to arrange assets. This makes it easier to manage multiple layers, compositions, and effects. I regularly preview the composition to check for smooth motion, visual consistency, and any issues that may arise during playback.

Observation

Ensure a smooth flow throughout the composition. Consider how elements transition from one to another, and use techniques like easing and proper timing to maintain a cohesive rhythm.

Findings

I experiment with different transitions to enhance the overall visual appeal. This could involve using motion blur, or other visual enhancements to elevate the composition.
