Task 4 : Brand Guideline
Create a simple brand guideline. Take note that a brand guideline is different from a corporate identity system. The latter is more complex and tends to be used for large multinational corporations, whereas a brand guideline is a concise and bespoke guideline for smaller and younger companies or brands. Content: The Brand, Visual Guide (Task 2), Applications.
1. PROGRESS
1a) Mind map
Based on my mood board I want my brand guideline to bring together the serenity of nature with the sophistication of modern minimalism. To reflect the brand's connection with nature, sustainability, and timeless elegance, yet keeping the visual presence clean. The color palette should feature earthy greens, based on my brand and logo colors.
The images I use will focus on natural textures, minimalist compositions, and photography of eucalyptus. Layouts will consider generous whitespace, simple alignments, and smooth edges to obtain a modern and uncluttered look that still looks intentional and effortless.
1b) Grid System

Figure 1.7 Week 12 (09/12/2024) Grid system #3.
With the 12x12 grid system, it gives more flexibility and precision to set up my layouts in ways that might feel balanced or intentional. To me, it allows for control over spacing, alignment, and proportion compared to the 4x3 or 3x3.
1c) Further Progress
I continue to develop my content within the brand guideline. Using the 12x12 grid system to manage consistency and alignment, maintaining the layout clean and professional.

I made the logo placed on the left, while the "BRAND GUIDELINE" title to big enough. The grid system is then applied to make every element perfectly aligned and organized. The earthy green background and dark tones is from my brand colors. The smaller descriptive text below the title and the date in the top right add to the overall clarity without overwhelming the design.

Working on the interactive buttons so that it is moving toward being a digital experience, enabling users to move around in the document quickly. Assigning actions like "Content," "Brand Profile," "Visual Guide," and "Application." To enhance usability and interactivity.
Figure 1.10 Week 12 (09/12/2024) Turning the photo into an arch shape.
I edited and isolated the subject to an arched frame using layers. To ensure consistency across visuals, with the logo. The arch-shaped container is cohesive with the brand’s minimalistic theme, and I can do clean cutouts to keep the focus on the subject while removing unnecessary background distractions.

I try the use of imagery combined with text. The imagery has to be well-aligned through using the grid system, and the usage of arch-shaped is from my logo, which reinforces the brand relation with the logo. I also want a clear hierarchy that clearly differentiates titles, subtitles, and body text.

Aligning the layout using the 12x12 grid system to maintain balance. I want each chapter has prominence while maintaining alignment with the gridlines.

I feel that my application pages are too bland. The challenge is that I want to maintain the integrity of the images without overcrowding them with any elements. However, Ms. Lilian suggested that I could incorporate descriptive text to explain each application, which I believe will enhance the overall appeal of the page. Keeping this in mind, I intend to focus on a more thoughtful design that allows the text to enhance, rather than detract from, the visuals.

FEEDBACK
Week 10
- General Feedback: The content should have a noticeable brand personality indicative of your brand's essence and value, thus making it appealing and relatable. A back cover showcasing the brand information. For each chapter, add a few reflective sentences that summarize the key themes or ideas, giving readers a snapshot of what to expect and setting the tone for the chapter. Make use of page 4 to provide clear navigation, enabling readers to navigate through the content with ease and making their experience even better.
Week 11
- Specific Feedback: Incorporate additional images and quotes to effectively showcase your brand as a lifestyle choice. These visuals can help create a more engaging and relatable narrative for your audience. Additionally, consider adding even more images to enhance the overall appeal. The current layout is already strong and well-organized, but these adjustments will elevate it further.
Week 12
- Specific Feedback: The incorporation of quotes and visuals is effective, so please continue to the buttons. Additionally, for the sections on visual guidee and application, it would be beneficial to include descriptive text. This will enhance the content and prevent the pages from appearing too monotone or unengaging.
REFLECTIONS
Experience
I find this task significantly more enjoyable than the others because I've always liked for creating presentation slides. This module has truly taught me to consider the importance of crafting a logo that not only stands out but also contributes to a cohesive and powerful brand identity. It has allowed me to reflect on how a well-designed logo can encapsulate the essence of a brand and communicate its values effectively.
Observation
In my experience, the thoughtful arrangement of images, typography, and whitespace requires planning. It is all about finding the right balance, this can prevent clutter and increase readability. This balance makes the design functional and visually appealing and, therefore, an overall effective and aesthetically pleasing guide.
Findings
Implementing a structured grid system is essential for achieving consistency, alignment, and balance throughout the design process. It allows me for flexibility. Which is why it's crucial to select a grid system that resonates with the overall vision of the project.
