Project 1: Animated Infographic Poster
After time exploring media and learning about information design, you will now develop an infographic that presents a series of different processes as visuals rather than text. Your main intention is to analyze the “delivery mechanism’s” that affect the outcomes of your infographics.
Though content is important, however the aim of this presentation is too look at what makes an infographic presentation work or does not work. This includes content but only as one of the many components of an infographic:
Part 1: Infographic poster :
1. Choose 1 infographic poster reference from Internet (Please consult before proceed).
2. Redesign the poster into A4 size. Sketch the idea and process.
3. Redesign and simplify the poster based on visual hierarchy & typography.
4. Simplify the poster's design based on color, shape & pattern.
5. Attach your final poster on E-Portfolio with explanation and reflective writing.
Part 2: Minimal animated infographic:
1. Animate your infographic poster into one static loop animation page.
2. Loop duration in between 15-30 seconds.
3. Size: 1080 x 1920 px (Vertical Video) upload to your own YouTube channel.
1. Progress
- 1.1 Poster
- Mood board
- Sketch/ideation
- 1.2 Animation
The image on the right is the original poster, while the left one is the last frame from the animation, illustrating the movement of the man running.
2. Final Submission- 2.1 Poster
- 2.2 Animation
Week 4
- Specific feedback: Do continue using the middle poster, you can refine the information, make more elements and remake the poster itself.
Week 5
- Specific feedback: The background color is quite dark, which creates a heavy atmosphere. Additionally, the amount of information presented feels overwhelming. I would appreciate a more streamlined and straightforward approach. For the animation, please refer to my examples; it's important that the movement enhances the reading experience rather than distracts from it.
Experience
This project was fun to do, I did run into some challenges with managing my time because I wasn't feeling well, but I’m really proud of how my poster turned out. It felt great to get back into After Effects and play around with my ideas again. Plus, I get to use the knowledge I picked up from previous exercises.
Observation
When creating the animation, I wanted to avoid any elements that might draw too much attention away from the message, which could lead to distraction. To achieve this, I focused on a minimalist approach to the animation. For the running sequence, I designed the character's movements to convey a sense of speed and urgency while still maintaining clarity; he appears to be in motion, sprinting energetically, yet the actions are subtle enough that they don't detract from the surrounding content.
Findings
Regardless of the volume of information you include in your infographic or plain poster, the paramount factor to consider is readability. Clarity is key; it allows your audience to effortlessly absorb your message without feeling overwhelmed
